Whilst my whole right side of my body is pretty good apart from walking , i can still produce pretty much as i want. The art of sculpture has taken on a whole new dimension. The joy of creating never fades. Things get harder. When people are normal they tend to drift in their walking. This never bothered me six months ago , now i feel myself thinking,' please get out of the way'. The reason? With Parkinson's you  almost have to think about every walking stride. Sure there are better days, hours but in general you get into a rhythm moving forward. You have to remember that this disease strips away your normal movement. The drugs replace stuff in your brain that allows motor control, arms, legs, thinking. These drugs, like any, fade in effectiveness over a six hour period. So when someone steps in front of you, your process is disrupted and depending on your condition can mean, a stumble! Or fall. That is the worst. It is hard enough getting out of bed and dressing. To go down means you have no protection. A person with full motor skills however, can use their arms as defensive protection but a person with Parkinson's has lost that reaction, resulting in further problems. breakage or worse. I am just learning about the disease I never invisaged myself as disable and yes, I'm not looking forward to the next ten years but as we all struggle with life, so will I and continue to paint and Live.
